Another pointless wordpress web log

I’ve been completely lacking in the posting department this past month I would say. I’ve posted a couple of lists and minor updates, but mostly I have really been looking for topics to blog about and I have also been modifying this wordpress template some more. I did bookmark a few blog posts that list a fair few topics that I should be able to put some effert into. I’ll share the 3 posts that I found to be the most use to me.
Chris Brogan’s 100 Blog Topics I Hope YOU Write is always the first list I refer to when looking for topics to blog about. This list does focus more on social media and technology though, so it might not be for everyone. I did write about one of the topics on my old blog over at blogger, which I did re-post here. Check it out. I also posted a list of wordpress plugins I use from that list too. Check it out here.
Chica’s 50 personal Blogging Topics To Write about is a great list of topics that revolve more around personal interests. The 50 topics are separated into 5 different groups. I have used one of these topics already. See here.
Darren Barefoot’s list of 55 More Blog Posts I Hope You Write is another list of personal topics but these are focused more on the how’s and why’s of certain interests and thing you do. I haven’t posted on any of his topics yet.
As you can see I have scrapped the navigation & archive links on the sidebar and made a navigation menu in the header (look above this post). Which is a bastardised version of Vikiworks.com block navigation menu code.
I have also been looking for and testing out different ways to display the fractals I’ve made in my gallery, and I have been unable to find anything that I like. I’ve tried a variety of different plugin’s that add extra functions to the NextGEN Gallery that I am currently using, like smooth gallery, autoviewer and the like but none of them worked the way I wanted to. So I will continue using the standard NextGEN Gallery setup & keep and eye out for any good plugins.
I have also added a To Do List to the sidebar, which will keep all of the things I should be doing, procrastination is a disease I swear!
And on the plugin front, I have installed a few more since I posted the Wordpress Plugins I Use And Why.
Admin Big Width - Enlarge your wordpress administration.
All this plugin does, like the short description says is make your wordpress admin front end a liquid layout so it fills your browsers page.
Dashboard Editor - Allows you to customise the dashboard.
It does exactly what it says on the tin. I used it to get rid of everything other then the Other Wordpress News & Right Now panel’s, since I don’t use anything else.
Our Todo List - A simple todo list to share ideas/todos with blog members. All members work as a team to manipulate the list under “Manage”. A variant derived from AbstractDimension’s Todo List Plugin.
A very simple and easy to use To Do List plugin. I just thought I best put one up. let you see what I am doing in between posts and what I should be working towards.
Get Custom Field Values - Easily retrieve and control the display of any custom field values/meta data for posts, inside or outside “the loop”.
This plugin is pretty much used to hide the custom field that the Twitter Tools plugin I use adds to each post. It works slightly differently to the custom feilds I was using before, so there is a little “bug” in older posts. Which can easily be fixed if I went trough all the posted and changed the custom fields, but I will just leave it for now.
Twitter Tools - A complete integration between your WordPress blog and Twitter. Bring your tweets into your blog and pass your blog posts to Twitter.
A simple plugin that I use to automatically update my twitter account when I post a blog.
I have also decided to start posting a header image with every post too, as you can probably see from the last few posts.
A quick update on the head front. I got my confirmation for my Neurologist appointment (14th). Its at 9:15am, which isn’t that bad, but the god damn hospital is about an hours bus trip away!
The weird thing is, they want a urine sample (that’s not the weird part), but they didn’t supply any kind of cup or such with the letter, like my doctors did. So I gotta find me a little water tight cup\tub to take them for the week after next.
Also, in the letter I was instructed to wear “loose fitting clothing” because a physical examination may be required. LOL I have some rather funny images running through my head right now.
Anyway, I think that’s all from me.
Until next time.
Buh bye.
